1. Geographic Targeting
Since NewsBreak’s core strength is local relevance, geographic targeting is often the most critical setting for your campaigns. You can target users at the following levels:
USA: Across the entire United States.
State: Specific states or groups of states.
City: Individual cities or municipalities.
Zip Code: The most granular level, allowing for hyper-local "neighborhood" targeting.
Pro Tip: Use Zip Code targeting if you are a local service provider (e.g., HVAC, real estate, or local retail) to ensure your budget is only spent on users within your service area.
2. Demographic & Interest Targeting
Refine who sees your ads based on their identity and what they care about. These settings are found at the Ad Set level.
Demographic Options
Age: Select specific age brackets (18–30, 31–44, 45-65, and 65+).
Gender: Unlimited, Male, Female, or undisclosed.
Language: Unlimited, English, Spanish
Interest-Based Targeting
NewsBreak’s algorithm analyzes user reading habits to categorize them into interest groups. Common categories include:
Education
Society
Jobs
etc...
3. Network & Connection Targeting
By default, campaigns are set to "Unlimited" (all network types) to ensure maximum reach. However, you can refine your audience based on their connectivity:
1. Wi-Fi Only
Selecting Wi-Fi targeting ensures your ads only appear when a user is connected to a local wireless network.
Best For: Video-heavy campaigns, app installs for large files, or landing pages with high-resolution assets.
Advantage: Users on Wi-Fi typically have more stable connections and are often in a more "sedentary" mindset (at home or in a cafe), which can lead to higher engagement for longer-form content.
2. Cellular (4G/5G)
This option targets users accessing NewsBreak through their mobile data provider. With the rollout of NewsBreak’s advanced 2026 infrastructure, you can now specifically optimize for 5G environments to reach users with the lowest latency.
Best For: Real-time "on-the-go" offers, local retail "stop-in" promotions, or lightweight native ads.
Advantage: Reaches users while they are out in the community, making it ideal for brick-and-mortar stores or immediate local services.
3. Unlimited (Default)
The Unlimited setting allows the NewsBreak algorithm to serve your ad across all connection types.
Best For: Most brand awareness and conversion-focused campaigns where the creative is optimized for fast loading on any speed.
Advantage: Prevents "over-segmentation," allowing the AI to find your audience regardless of how they are connected.
Note: Restricting your network type can significantly decrease your Potential Reach. It is recommended to keep this set to "Unlimited" unless your creative specifically requires a high-speed connection to function properly.
