Welcome to our FAQ on Custom Columns and Web Events! Here, you'll find everything you need to know about tracking and optimizing events on your website with NewsBreak. Let’s get started with the basics!
What's the purpose of events?
Events track actions taken by users who click your ad and visit your website, such as form submission or making a purchase. Sharing these events with NewsBreak via Pixel or Postback is essential for measuring performance and optimizing ad delivery.
There are 2 types of Website Events on NewsBreak:
-
Standard Events
- Predefined actions created by NewsBreak for reporting and optimizing conversions.
- Can be viewed in Ad Management by customizing columns and in Custom Reports
-
Custom Events
- Actions that advertisers define for reporting and optimizing conversions.
- Can be viewed in Custom Reports, currently not available in Ad Management.
How do you create multiple events?
- In Event Management, you can create multiple events within one account to test ad performance, build custom audiences, and optimize funnels.
- (Be sure to check out our Intro to Multi-Event Tracking article if you haven’t already).
- Double-check each event under an account represents a unique action. For example, you can't create two identical events for "complete_payment" within Web events, but you can have one for Web and another for App events.
Event Value
- If your event has an associated value (e.g., payment amount), enable Event Value and pass back the value using nb_value.
- Event Value is required for checking value-related metrics and for using Target ROAS ad sets.
Customizing Columns
- Use the “Customize Columns” function in Ad Management to add or remove fields, including those for General Performance, Settings, and Website Events.
- Customized columns are user-specific and won’t affect other users.
💡Note: Only standard event metrics can be added to Ad Management columns. Custom event data is only available in Custom Reports for now.
Reporting Multiple Events
- Review all events and their values in Report > Custom Reports.
- Custom reports now include metrics for all standard and custom events, such as Total number, CPA, CVR, Total value, and Value per event (if event value is enabled and passed back).
✍️Note: Currently, App event reporting is not yet available but will be included in future updates.
